Fire Sprinkler System
Fire Sprinkler System – it’s an active fire protection method, consisting of a water supply system, providing adequate pressure and flow rate to a water distribution piping system, onto which sprinkler heads are connected. Recommended inspections are semi-annually with maintenance checks being done once a year.
Fire Hoses/Hose Reels
Fire Hose – This a high pressure hose used to extinguish fires. It can be stored in cabinets outdoors to be used on fire hydrants and fire trucks or indoors on reels or in cabinets. Recommended inspections should at least be done semi-annually, depending on your operation with maintenance checks once per year.
Fire Detection/Suppression System
Fire Detection/Suppression – This is a system comprising several devices (detection, notification and suppression). These systems monitor smoke, carbon monoxide, heat, fire and send a signal to a main panel which triggers the notification device (horn/bell) to alert staff/personnel. An automatic suppression system (used in server/generator rooms) is a system connected to cylinders that discharge various types of fire suppression agents. Inspections can be done monthly and a once yearly maintenance where smoke detectors are cleaned and system tested.
Fire Extinguishers
Fire Extinguishers – This is a hand-held or wheeled device used to extinguish small fires. They are manufactured with each type having the capability to fight different class fires. They are not intended for out of control fires. Inspections can be done on a monthly basis. Maintenance of fire extinguishers varies depending on the type.
